By spreading kindness, we empower women in Australia’s most remote communities returning a sense of dignity and pride in taking care of themselves.

We’re helping facilitate important hygiene and personal care practices and ending stigmas around women’s health to lead to better physical and mental health outcomes.

Women are the backbone of our communities. We know that in helping just one woman feel uplifted, the impact will spread as she supports others from a place of empowerment.
Communities We Support
Since the beginning of the Happy Boxes Project, we’ve been able to send boxes filled with toiletries, hygiene products, personal care items and often luxuries like makeup and skincare to women in more than remote 90 communities.
Thanks to the generosity of community coordinators in each area, we’re able to distribute Happy Boxes to women in need and often support other community programs such as women’s circles, educational programs and more.
Our Why
Women in remote Australia are going without basic necessities. Access to items like soap, deodorant, pads and tampons, haircare and more proves challenging when the nearest store is often over 1000km away and sometimes only accessible via boat, plane or an arduous journey down harsh dirt roads. Those lucky enough to have a local shop face exuberant prices.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are also disproportionately impacted by unacceptable living standards and housing overcrowding.
This is all compounded by the cultural stigmas surrounding women’s healthcare in remote communities and access to education that would help them care for their health, hygiene and ultimately, happiness.

Our Team
Happy Boxes was founded by Emma Sullings, although if you were to ask Emma, she’d tell you that Happy Boxes found her.
Emma is supported by an incredible team of volunteers and Board Members that share her passion and drive for removing the barriers women in remote communities face in accessing personal care items and empowering them through self-care.
Our Coordinators
We couldn’t do what we do without the incredible support of our coordinators who are based in the many remote communities we support.
Our coordinators receive our Happy Boxes and help distribute them to women in their community who need them most. Not only that, they’re often responsible for great initiatives in their own communities that help to foster opportunities for support and education.
